I love the start of a fresh week, same thing for the 1st of each month, but the start of a new year? Nothing I love more! So much excitement of what’s to come, a fresh slate of opportunities and new goals – to really start the new year, 2017, with a plus.

For me it’s less about ‘lose weight’ or ‘fitness goals’ and more about living a more mindful life. With everything I do I will ask myself, does this bring me joy? Does this make me happy or bring me closer to what I’m trying to achieve? And that can apply to my two businesses as well as at home.

I’m going through a huge decluttering and minimising of my surroundings and again I ask when going through each room – does this bring me joy or can it go? Already I am feeling soooo much lighter and I will continue this throughout the year.

The other big thing I am bringing into this year is learning to adult. Yep it is time. It may not be glamorous and you have to be ready but it’s time!

We work so hard for our money, for more time with our friends and family or for holidays or that house with a backyard… so I am finally bringing awareness to all of that!!

For example, I’m asking where does it fit with my plan to start the year with a plus? I’ll be using a simple spreadsheet to budget so that I’m on top of everything that’s due and what can be added to the savings account. This will also help towards those bigger goals like the house with the yard and overseas holidays.

I’m starting 2017 with knowledge, with empowerment, with joy and of course a big green smoothies and maybe a yoga class, we are Fitness In The City after all!
